Uzbekistan & Kyrgystan 1997

This page is a place holder for the travelogue of our 3 week holiday to Central Asia, along a part of the ancient silk road through Uzbekistan and Kyrgystan. We started in the city of Tashkent and from there on we visited the three cultural highlights of Uzbekistan: Khiva, Buchara and Samarkand. Ofcourse we visted the most beautiful square of the (islamic) world in Samarkand, The Registan Square. From Samarkand we went to Fergana by train (accompanied by some cockroaches in our compartment). Kyrgystan was our next destination. There we made a trek through the Pamir mountain range. After that we went from Osh to Bishkek, capital of Kyrgystan, by taxis in two days. After a few days we left that city again by nightbus to Tashkent (the most dreadful bustrip we've ever made).

Before long this page will contain more information about this journey.
